Pakistan has never been allowed to be a stable country, whether economically, commercially or diplomatically. Pakistan has suffered through sanctions, terrorism and political gamesmanship to become a nuclear-armed power, the fifth largest military in the world and continues to see progress due to the sacrifices and hard work of Pakistani, where the government has failed.

Pakistan has served its geopolitical role in the region, providing safe haven to refugees fleeing the Soviet invasion in the 1970s and again during the US invasion post 9-11, and providing food, raw materials and transport routes into Afghanistan. Pakistan is also a key ally of China, and a core component of the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative. OBOR is better known as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a continues thumb in the eye to regional rival, India.

Our analysts look at Pakistan from a viewpoint of impacts – impact on the people, impact on the government, impact on the economy and impact diplomatically.
