The Islamic Theology of Counter Terrorism – Part IV

We (Muslims) pay less attention about how to counter the menace of terrorism and more on how to create extremism in regards to achieve our political goals. We don’t bear it if anyone affiliates Islam with terrorism but we promote political Islam all around the world. We cannot tolerate that someone blasphemes the name of the Prophet of Islam but we kill innocent people in his name. We propagate that Islam is the religion of peace but we create mischief and violence under the umbrella of our religion. We chant the sacred name of Allah by saying Allahu Akbar (Allah is great) in order to please Him but at the same time we slaughter His innocent creations in His sacred name. We still call ourselves Muslims (the one who submits to the will of God) but His will is not to kill innocent humans under His name as He is the lord of mankind.

It is an ideology of the Kharijites/Takfiris to issue a decree of Kufr (apostate) to those whose ideology differs from their own and to make their blood permissible (Halal) to be shed on Earth in the name of Islam.  Non -Muslims are in a rush to blame every terrorism to Wahabis/Salafis even though they do not know the difference between the Wahabis and Salafis ideology. They are both different schools of thoughts and ideologies but very much similar in the way of religious rituals.

Takfiris or Kharijites are completely different and their ideology is comprehensively destructive in Islam, which promotes and propagates violence and terrorism to achieve their political aims. The concept of political Islam is created by Takfiris which is based on making Islam politicalised by any means or by using any method at any cost.

The modern form of the Kharijites emerged in the nineteenth century in retaliation of the western colonisations. They politicalised Islam in regards to dominate Islam over other nations. They started waging Jihad against their own Muslims as well as non-Muslims. They attacked and killed many Muslim rulers as well as religious places. Takfiris are the worst cult in Islam and they have defamed the peaceful image of the religion in the world. The term Islamic terrorism refers to the political form of Islam and political Islam is created by the Kharijites whose ideology is based on takfir (ex- communication from Islam).

Sayyid Qutb of Egypt was the chief Kharijites Jihadist ideologue, who was under influence by Leninism and Marxism. He wanted the Marxist -Lenin style revolution introduced to the Muslim world. His followers not only killed the Egyptian president Anwar Sadat but also carried out attacks and massacres on the Holy Grand Mosque in Makkah.  After his death, which was carried out by the Egyptian authorities, his brother Mohammad Qutb migrated to Saudi Arabia and started teaching in Medina university where he spread his slain brother’s Kharijites ideology in regards to raising a Kharijites army within the country. The two most infamous Jihadi figures were among his students: Dr Ayman al Zawahiri and Usama bin Laden.

Religious extremism exists within Islam and Islamists see the streets of London, New York, Paris, Riyadh, Islamabad, Tel Aviv, Makkah and Madrid, to name a few, as domains of war which is the destruction of the peaceful message of Islam. What is the basic objective of Islamic terrorism committed by Islamists? The intent is to scare and shake societies, to generate terror into the hearts of the civilian population, to destabilise democratic governments; all of this is justified through Jihadists slogans, amongst which are; “Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed is a disbeliever and Judgement is only for Allah.”

Radical groups have been successfully sustained in the Islamic world, especially in the western society due to people’s ignorance about Islam and lack of knowledge. It is unfortunate that due to the ignorance of many Muslims and the scarcity of knowledge in some Western lands, these radical groups have managed to infiltrate the Muslims and adversely affect the mindset of many Muslim youths. Most of the extremists are youngsters who are deprived from the western system, in which they struggle to integrate.

These people are easy targets for radicals to use them in terrorism in order to achieve their dirty goal which is to destabilise elected governments through violence and mischief. Muslims are not allowed to rebel against Muslim rulers and the same goes for non-Muslim rulers whom we have a peace pact with according to the teaching of Islam.  Rebellion would result in greater trouble and lead to chaos and oppression.

There are two Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet of Islam Peace Be Upon Him).

  • Hudhaifa bin al-Yaman narrated a hadith in which he said, “The Prophet (saws) said, ‘there will be after me leaders who do not follow my guidance and do not follow my Sunna, and there will be among them men whose hearts are like those of Satan in the body of a human being.’ And I asked the Prophet (saws), ‘What I should do at that time if I reach it? “Listen and obey the ruler, even if he lashed your back and took your money, listen and obey.”
  • In another narration, Auf bin Malik t said, “O Prophet of Allah, do you recommend that we fight them?” He said, “No, don’t fight them as long as they do not prevent you from your prayers. And if you see from them something that you dislike, dislike their acts, do not dislike them. And do not take your hand out from obedience to them.”

The teaching of Islam tells us that as long as Muslim rulers do not prevent Muslims to perform prayers, they are not allowed to be overthrown and rebelled against.

The new generation, who is completely ignorant of Islam, follows the teachings of the Kharijites in order to create mischief amongst Muslim and non-Muslim countries. We must educate our youths about the real teachings of Islam and inform them about the danger of Islamists, who follow none but political Islam. We should open organisations or institutes that purely educate youngsters about the difference between Islam and political Islam, between Islamic terrorism and terrorism in general.

When we use the term “Islamic terrorism”, Muslims straightaway conclude that we associate Islam with terrorism. They are unaware that indeed Islam has nothing to do with terrorism but Islamic terrorism has something to do with religion. The fact is that there is an extreme form within Islam and the world named it political Islam.
